Website Rebranding Announcement

I’m excited to announce that my website has undergone a rebranding! The site has moved from www.Hauptwerk-Organ.com to www.HauptwerkGuru.com.

This change was made to avoid confusion — many visitors mistakenly believed I was officially affiliated with www.Hauptwerk.com, which I am not. I’ve always done my best to help where I could, but I was unable to assist with issues related to purchases or licenses. To ease the transition, www.Hauptwerk-Organ.com will redirect to the new address for a limited time. If you’ve bookmarked the old URL, please take a moment to update your bookmark to the new one.

A Shift in Focus

When I first launched the website, my goal was to share personal extensions to existing sample sets — mostly features that were missing at the time, such as portrait screen support. Today, most sample set developers include these features by default, making such extensions less necessary.

However, through working on these projects, I’ve gained significant experience in customizing Hauptwerk organ definition files, particularly in implementing non-standard features. More recently, I’ve been collaborating with several sample set producers, helping refine and finalize their offerings.

Tips & Tricks Section

I’ve introduced a new section dedicated to sharing tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years. My goal is to make this a valuable resource for readers looking to learn something new or improve their skills. If you have any insights or suggestions that might be of interest, I’d be delighted to hear from you!

Relocate Hauptwerk Folders

By default, Hauptwerk installs all of its folders on the same storage drive, with very limited options for relocation. Notably, the AutomaticBackups folder is always stored in a subfolder of your home directory. If your main storage drive fails, you risk losing both your active configuration and your backups. At the moment, the only officially supported way around this problem is to move HauptwerkUserData folder to another drive.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to move ANY Hauptwerk folder or subfolder to a different location — without modifying the Hauptwerk configuration files.

Update Polyphony Limit

Hauptwerk’s default polyphony settings are quite conservative. I’ll show you how to quickly update your polyphony limit across all of your sample sets in just a few seconds.

Extract Organ Information

Need an overview of all installed sample sets? I’ve created two Terminal scripts for macOS that pull detailed information from both the OrganDefinitions and OrganInstallationPackages folders.
